Why has Turkey been attacking the Kurds in Iraq and Syria?
This is not about the Kurds and Turks. The issue is much bigger. Other powers are using the Kurds for their geopolitical interests. Both Israel and the US want to create Kurdistan by carving out a piece of Syria, Iraq, Turkey, and Iran. Kurdistan is considered the second Israel for the West, to be used to serve their interests in the natural resources-rich region. This is also a backup plan in case Israel is weakened or collapses. To understand the issue, some history can provide a much broader perspective. The US used to have three pillars of its hegemony in ME: Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. These 3 countries have adopted policies to serve the US. After the regime change in Iran in 1979, the US 'recruited' Egypt as a replacement, via the Camp David Accords, implemented in 1979. The timing of this 'so-called Peace Treaty' is not a coincidence, but a calculated strategic move. The US wants to create a new pillar to replace any subsequent loss of a vassal regime to sustain its domination of ME. Like Israel, Kurdistan will be an agent of chaos and instability allowing the US to sell its 'security' package consisting of billions in arms sales, maintenance, and parts. Other services include military bases paid off by the host country. In addition, these vassals will park their assets in American banks, trapping them deep into the web. Finally, and more importantly, this strategy is meant to defend the petro-dollar and guard the oil and gas in the region, allowing the US to control supply to energy-dependent countries. This is to blackmail them into serving American interests at their expense.
